Mechanical Design Engineer - PERMANENT - $65K to $85K + benefits

LOCATION: Brampton, Ontario

Qualifications:

Mechanical Engineering Diploma (minimum)
3 years+ experience in mechanical design in a metal fabrication / forming environment
Proficiency with Solid Works a must
Experience with any of the following an asset: Autocad, Solid Works ePDM, Solid Works animations
Experience with creating or maintaining machine manuals an asset
Strong knowledge of GD&T
Well organized and motivated
Good initiative and attention to detail
Experience working in a controlled goods workplace an asset
Ability to work independently and as a team member in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills written and verbal
Able to work well with stakeholders (internal and external)

Duties:

Responsible for providing technical support for the layout, design, detailing and releasing of production drawings and BOMs of mechanical systems related to heavy industrial machines such as transfer presses, rolling mills, ball forging machines, automation equipment, etc.
Work on existing and new projects
Liaise with other members of the Design and Manufacturing Teams in order to collaboratively develop products
Assist with the development and detailing of final designs specific to the projects working directly with Project Leaders
Work with Engineers / Project Leaders to create and update mechanical drawings using Solid Works and Autocad
Produce other required documents using Excel and Word
Design and draft equipment systems in 2D and 3D
Responsible for ensuring drawings meet established project criteria and applicable standards
